Overview

New Zealand Red Stag Hunt – Hunting CME Adventure
June 12 – June 19, 2027

Experience the trip of a lifetime on this 7-night / 6-day Hunting CME adventure in the heart of New Zealand’s South Island. Set against the dramatic landscapes of High Peak, this immersive course blends world-class Red Stag hunting, hands-on wilderness medical education, and exceptional New Zealand hospitality into a single, unforgettable expedition.

Designed for those who want to learn where it truly counts, this course delivers the core wilderness medicine curriculum while actively hunting in challenging terrain. You’ll spend your days in the field alongside expert New Zealand hunting guides and experienced Wild Med Adventures faculty, gaining practical skills in assessment, stabilization, evacuation, and injury prevention specific to hunting environments.

This is more than a course — it’s an opportunity to earn CME credits, develop real-world medical confidence, and test yourself physically and mentally while pursuing trophy-class Red Stag in a fair-chase environment. Evenings are spent enjoying excellent food, drinks, and camaraderie, reflecting the first-class lodge experience High Peak is known for.

Group Dynamics

This is a small, tight-knit group experience built around shared effort, mutual respect, and camaraderie. Days in the field and evenings at the lodge naturally foster connection, collaboration, and lasting friendships. Whether you arrive solo or with a partner, you’ll be welcomed into an inclusive group united by curiosity, adventure, and a passion for learning by doing.

The Experience

The Experience

This is not just a hunt — it’s a fully immersive wilderness medicine expedition set in one of the most iconic hunting destinations on Earth. Over the course of seven unforgettable nights in New Zealand’s South Island, you’ll combine world-class Red Stag hunting, hands-on medical education, and exceptional lodge-based hospitality in a setting that feels both rugged and refined.

Days are spent moving through spectacular alpine terrain, stalking trophy-class game, and learning directly from experienced New Zealand guides and Wild Med Adventures faculty. Evenings bring everyone back together over excellent food, drinks, and shared stories, creating the kind of camaraderie that turns a group of strangers into lifelong friends.

A Hunting Destination for the Discerning Few

High Peak is more than just a place to hunt — it’s the foundation of a great hunting story. With thousands of acres of fair-chase land, abundant game, and world-class trophy opportunities, this environment challenges you both physically and mentally. Every success is earned, every moment feels authentic, and every hunt becomes a story worth telling long after you return home.

Learn Where It Counts

Wilderness medicine is taught in context, not in a classroom. Throughout the week, CME lectures and hands-on workshops are woven directly into the hunting experience, focusing on real injuries, real decision-making, and real-world problem solving. You’ll practice assessment, stabilization, splinting, evacuation planning, and injury prevention in the same environments where these skills truly matter.

The Flow of Each Day

  • Morning hunts in challenging, beautiful terrain

  • Field-based medical education and hands-on workshops

  • Lunches and breaks woven naturally into the day

  • Afternoon hunts or skill sessions depending on conditions

  • Evenings at the lodge with great food, drinks, and discussion

This rhythm keeps the experience immersive, balanced, and sustainable, allowing you to stay engaged while fully absorbing both the adventure and the education.

What You’ll Take Home

Yes, you’ll earn CME and FAWM credits — but you’ll also leave with:

  • Real confidence managing medical issues in hunting environments

  • Practical wilderness medicine skills reinforced through repetition and context

  • Unforgettable hunting memories in a world-class destination

  • Strong friendships built through shared challenge and experience

Most participants leave saying the same thing:

“I can’t believe this counted as CME — and I can’t wait to do it again.”
