01 / OUR APPROACH
Teaching is better
when we learn together.
Thank you for your interest in becoming an instructor for Wild Med. We're thrilled to hear from passionate individuals like you who are excited to share their knowledge and experience with others.
At our core, we believe that teaching wilderness medicine is about more than just imparting knowledge. It's about creating an environment where learning is fun, engaging, and collaborative. Our approach values camaraderie and friendship, both among instructors and students. We emphasize that the best teaching comes from a place of humility, where no one is expected to know everything, and everyone's experience is valuable.
We pride ourselves on a culture where everyone, no matter their level of experience, feels comfortable and respected. We avoid any atmosphere of arrogance and focus instead on a supportive and team-oriented environment that fosters growth and connection.
If this approach resonates with you, we’d love to have you join our team and bring your unique skills to our courses.
Hands-on learning. A shared sense of adventure.02 / A GOOD FIT?
Sound like
your kind of team?
Honest, Kind and Hardworking
Adventurous and Fun Attitude
Always Keep Safety First
Enjoy meeting new people & exploring new places
Willingness to learn and stay up to date on assigned topics
03 / WHAT TO EXPECT
A clear next step.
A chance to grow together.
Expect to hear back from us within 1-2 weeks after submitting the above information.
Find a conference that fits your expertise and/or experience that you want to attend and help with. We may be able to apply small discount for those new instructors depending on trip and availability.
You will be assigned one or two topics to present and also help with any hands-on workshops but initially you are there to observe how our team runs a trip and interacts with our clients.
Our lead instructor will fill out an evaluation form for you and also observe how you interact with other clients and your overall attitude.
After teaching on one or two of our conferences and satisfying our requirements, then you may become a Co-Lead & Lead Instructor.
We recommend that any new instructors take our Advanced Wilderness Life Support (AWLS) course if you haven’t previously had it as this is a great way to meet our team and also practice many hands-on techniques. However, this certification is not a hard requirement.
