Overview
Montana Fly-Fishing CME
July 11 – July 16, 2027
Spend five nights immersed in world-class fly fishing while completing the core curriculum of the Wilderness Medicine for the Outdoor Enthusiast CME course in the mountains of Southwest Montana. This all-inclusive experience is based at Montana High Country, a private, first-class fly-fishing lodge surrounded by legendary rivers, alpine lakes, and spring creeks.
This course combines four days of guided fly fishing, 13 hours of CME lectures and workshops, and a relaxed lodge-based environment designed to foster learning, camaraderie, and meaningful time outdoors. Educational sessions are integrated into the natural rhythm of the trip, allowing participants to learn wilderness medicine concepts in context — while doing what they love.
Participants fish Montana’s iconic waters with highly experienced local guides, using a combination of wading, drift boats, rafts, and stillwater techniques depending on location and conditions. All fishing equipment is provided, including waders, rods, reels, and flies, allowing participants to focus fully on the experience rather than logistics.
Evenings are spent back at the lodge enjoying excellent meals, shared stories, and informal education sessions. Beer, wine, and bourbon are included, and the private, small-group setting creates an atmosphere that feels more like a gathering of friends than a traditional conference.
This is not a sightseeing trip.
This is a hands-on, immersive CME experience built around fly fishing, practical medical education, and connection — designed for those who want to learn, unwind, and build friendships that last well beyond the course.
