Everest Base Camp Trek 2026
March 29 – April 14, 2026
Trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) while earning 20 Hours of AMA PRA Category 1 CME™ on one of the world’s most iconic high-altitude expeditions. This 17-day Mountain Medicine CME course takes place in the Himalayan Range of Nepal and follows the traditional trekking route to the base camp of Mount Everest (8,848 m), the highest mountain in the world.
This expedition leads participants from Kathmandu to the mountain village of Lukla via scenic flights, then on foot through remote valleys, across rivers, and through traditional Sherpa villages en route to Everest Base Camp. The journey combines sustained high-altitude trekking, wilderness medical education, and cultural immersion in one of the most demanding mountain environments on Earth.
Designed for individuals with strong physical fitness and prior hiking or outdoor experience, this trek delivers Mountain Medicine CME education in real-world, high-altitude settings — exactly where these skills matter most. Participants experience glaciers, expansive Himalayan views, and the unique lifestyle and culture of the Sherpa people while ascending gradually through steep and challenging terrain.
This is not a sightseeing trip.
This is a physically demanding, high-reward expedition for those who want to challenge themselves, build lasting friendships, and earn CME while undertaking a true once-in-a-lifetime Himalayan journey.

The Experience
The Experience
This is not a tour — it’s a true high-altitude expedition.
Over the course of this trek, participants travel on foot through the Himalayan Range of Nepal, following the traditional route to Everest Base Camp. Days are spent ascending through remote mountain valleys, crossing rivers, and navigating steep, high-altitude terrain as the landscape becomes progressively more rugged and austere. The physical demands increase with elevation, and each day requires endurance, focus, and adaptability.
Trekkers move through small Sherpa villages and high-mountain settlements, gaining firsthand exposure to local culture and daily life in the Khumbu region. Along the route, participants experience expansive views of Mount Everest and the surrounding Himalayan Mountains, as well as impressive glaciers and dramatic alpine scenery that define this legendary trek.
Learn Where It Counts
Mountain Medicine CME education is integrated directly into the expedition.
Wild Med Adventures faculty deliver education in real-world, high-altitude environments, focusing on practical wilderness and expedition medicine concepts relevant to remote mountain travel. Instruction takes place where decision-making, risk assessment, and patient care matter most — in the mountains themselves.
The Flow of Each Day
Sustained trekking through remote, high-altitude terrain
Planned acclimatization and rest periods
Progressive ascent toward Everest Base Camp
Evening education, meals, and group downtime
The balance is intentional — demanding but sustainable — allowing participants to move safely while absorbing both the physical and educational components of the expedition.

Risks
Risks & Disclosures
Inherent Risk
Participation in this expedition involves high-altitude trekking and travel in remote and austere environments within Nepal’s Himalayan region. Activities include prolonged hiking days, steep and uneven terrain, exposure to extreme altitude, cold temperatures, variable weather, limited infrastructure, and delayed access to definitive medical care. These activities inherently involve risk, including but not limited to altitude illness (AMS, HACE, HAPE), injury, illness, falls, environmental exposure, evacuation delays, equipment failure, travel disruption, or death.
Responsibility & Role Clarification
Participants are solely responsible for their own trekking decisions, pace, conduct, and use of equipment at all times.
Wild Med Adventures faculty provide medical education only and do not provide trekking instruction, mountaineering supervision, or safety oversight. Mountain logistics, route planning, and on-trail leadership are provided by experienced local Nepali guides and Sherpa staff. Wild Med Adventures and its faculty are not responsible for trail conditions, altitude effects, weather, guide decisions, equipment performance, or participant behavior.
Medical & Physical Fitness
This expedition is physically demanding and conducted at high altitude with sustained exertion over multiple consecutive days. Participants are responsible for assessing their own physical fitness, altitude tolerance, medical readiness, and prior experience before participation. This trek is not advised for individuals unable to tolerate strenuous activity, prolonged hiking at altitude, or remote expedition conditions. Prior hiking experience and previous altitude exposure are strongly recommended.
Insurance Disclosure
Rescue and evacuation insurance covering high-altitude and remote environments is mandatory for participation.
Personal medical insurance valid for international travel is strongly recommended.
Trip insurance is strongly recommended to cover delays, missed connections, weather disruptions, or trip interruption.
Participants are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining appropriate insurance coverage.
Travel & Entry Requirements
Participants are responsible for securing all required travel documents, including a valid passport and Nepal entry visa. Visa, vaccination, and entry requirements vary by nationality and are subject to change. Participants are also responsible for compliance with airline baggage limits and domestic flight restrictions, including those related to Lukla access.
Environmental & Operational Uncertainty
This expedition operates in a wilderness setting with limited control over environmental conditions. Weather events, landslides, snow, flight delays, earthquakes, or other natural events may require itinerary changes, alternate routes, delays, or early termination of the trek. Participants acknowledge that flexibility and expedition-style problem solving may be required.
Assumption of Risk
By enrolling in and participating in this expedition, participants acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with high-altitude trekking, wilderness travel, and remote-area activities, and agree to assume full responsibility for their participation.
Keep exploring.
