Overview
Duck & Goose Hunting CME Conference

Overview

Duck & Goose Hunting CME Conference
January 10–15, 2027

Step into the flooded rice fields and winding waterways of Arkansas for a one-of-a-kind Hunting CME experience that blends world-class waterfowl hunting with hands-on wilderness medicine education. Hosted at the renowned Major League Farms near Stuttgart, this immersive course is designed to deliver meaningful CME while fully embracing the rhythm, challenge, and camaraderie of a true hunting lodge experience.

Over five nights and four full hunting days, participants will split time between duck and goose hunts, adapting daily plans to bird movement and weather conditions while completing the core curriculum of a Wilderness Medicine CME course. Afternoons are reserved for engaging, practical lectures and skill-based learning, ensuring the medical education enhances—rather than competes with—the hunt.

This course is intentionally balanced: serious education without a sterile conference feel, exceptional food and drinks, and long days in the field followed by evenings of connection, reflection, and shared stories. Whether you’re expanding your clinical skill set for hunting-related injuries or simply seeking an authentic CME adventure that doesn’t feel like a classroom, this experience delivers.

Who It's For

Who It's For:

This course is designed for individuals who want to combine a high-quality hunting experience with practical wilderness medicine education, learning how to prevent, recognize, and manage injuries encountered in real-world hunting environments.

This trip is ideal for

  • Medical professionals seeking hunting-focused CME
Physicians, PAs, NPs, nurses, EMTs, paramedics, and medics who want relevant, experience-driven education centered on injuries and illnesses encountered while hunting and working in remote settings.

  • Providers pursuing or holding wilderness medicine credentials
Including those working toward or maintaining FAWM or similar wilderness medicine certifications who want hands-on learning in context.

  • Experienced hunters and outdoor enthusiasts
Individuals with prior hunting and outdoor experience who want to deepen their understanding of medical risk, prevention, and response in the field.

  • Non-medical participants accompanying a medical attendee
Friends or spouses are welcome to attend and participate in the experience, whether hunting or simply enjoying the lodge and educational environment.

Physical Requirements (Important)

  • Medical credentials required for CME
EMT, Paramedic, Nurse, PA, NP, RRT, PhD, or Physician to earn CME credits.

  • Non-medical participants welcome
Attendance without CME is permitted for those who want to join the experience and lectures.

  • Previous hunting and outdoor experience
Participants should be comfortable in hunting environments and prepared for variable winter weather conditions.

  • Good physical fitness
Long days in the field and time spent in flooded fields and uneven terrain should be expected.

This trip is not recommended for

  • Individuals with no interest in hunting or outdoor field environments

  • Those unwilling or unable to tolerate cold, wet, or variable weather conditions

  • Participants seeking a luxury sightseeing vacation rather than an active, experience-based course

  • Anyone uncomfortable with the inherent risks associated with hunting environments

Group Dynamics

This is a small, tight-knit group experience built around shared days in the field, collaborative learning, and relaxed evenings at the lodge. The atmosphere is inclusive, welcoming, and intentionally designed to foster camaraderie, connection, and lasting friendships among participants from diverse medical and non-medical backgrounds.

The Experience

The Experience

This is not a conference hall — it’s real education delivered in the middle of a working hunting lodge, with mornings spent in flooded fields and afternoons translating experience into medical decision-making.

From early mornings in the blind to evenings back at the lodge, this experience is intentionally designed to feel authentic, immersive, and deeply human. You’ll hunt ducks and geese in one of North America’s most iconic waterfowl regions, share meals and stories with a small group that quickly feels like family, and engage in hands-on wilderness medicine education that never feels forced or out of place.

A Hunting Lodge Classroom You Didn’t Know Existed

This course unfolds at Major League Farms, where education happens in the same environment as the hunt itself. The lodge becomes a gathering place for reflection, discussion, and learning, while the field provides constant real-world context. It’s an experience that feels organic, unpretentious, and refreshingly real — exactly how learning sticks.

Learn Where It Counts

Medical education is woven naturally into the rhythm of the trip. Lectures and discussions focus on injuries, illnesses, and risk management encountered while hunting and working in remote environments, reinforced by shared field experience earlier in the day. This approach keeps the curriculum practical, relevant, and immediately applicable, grounding every lesson in lived experience rather than hypotheticals.

The Flow of Each Day

  • Early morning duck or goose hunts, adapted to weather and bird movement

  • Midday return to the lodge for rest, meals, and connection

  • Afternoon focused lectures and hands-on discussions

  • Evenings filled with great food, drinks, and shared stories

This cadence creates balance — full days that are engaging without being exhausting, allowing both the hunt and the education to enhance one another rather than compete.

What You’ll Take Home

Yes, you’ll earn CME credits — but you’ll also leave with:

  • Real-world confidence managing medical issues in hunting environments

  • Sharpened risk-awareness specific to remote and outdoor settings

  • Meaningful connections with like-minded professionals and adventurers

  • Memories from the field that anchor the education long after the trip ends

Most participants leave surprised by how naturally it all fit together — and how hard it is to believe this was CME at all.
