This is a small, inclusive group experience built around shared time on the water, collaborative learning, and relaxed evenings together at the lodge. Participants consistently describe the atmosphere as welcoming, supportive, and easy to settle into — even if you arrive knowing no one. If you value camaraderie, conversation, and connection, you’ll fit right in.
The Experience
The Experience
This is not just a fishing trip — it’s a fully immersive wilderness medicine experience built around time on the water. Days are spent fly fishing some of the most diverse waters in the region, evenings are spent learning, reflecting, and connecting, and the entire experience is designed to feel natural, unforced, and deeply rewarding.
This trip blends hands-on medical education, professional guiding, and genuine downtime in a way that feels seamless. You’ll fish hard when the conditions are right, slow down when it matters, and leave feeling like you’ve been part of something meaningful — not just attended another course.
A Fly Fisherman’s Paradise — With Options for Everyone
One of the most special aspects of this trip is the diversity of fisheries and species available, allowing each day to be tailored to the group and the individual. Whether you’re chasing trout, targeting bass, or curious about more unique species like carp or walleye, the experience adapts to your interests, goals, and experience level — no two days need to look exactly the same.
Learn Where It Counts
Education is woven directly into the rhythm of the trip. Rather than sitting in a conference room, you’ll learn wilderness medicine in context, applying concepts and skills alongside the activities that make them relevant. This approach keeps learning practical, memorable, and immediately applicable — exactly how wilderness medicine is meant to be taught.
The Flow of Each Day
Mornings at the lodge with breakfast and a plan for the day
Full or half days of guided fly fishing based on conditions and schedule
Intentional breaks to reset, refuel, and reflect
Afternoon or evening lectures and skills sessions
Relaxed dinners, conversations, and downtime at the lodge
This balance allows for full days on the water without burnout, creating space for learning, recovery, and connection throughout the week.
What You’ll Take Home
Yes, you’ll earn CME — but you’ll also leave with:
Sharpened wilderness medicine skills taught in real-world settings
Meaningful time fly fishing with professional guides
New confidence, whether you’re new to the sport or deeply experienced
Lasting friendships built through shared experience
Memories that feel far bigger than a conference
Many participants leave saying the same thing:
“I can’t believe this counts as CME.”
