He is an acknowledged world expert in frostbite and non-freezing cold injuries and runs the UK internet telemedicine frostbite service for the British Mountaineering Council. He is one of the authors of the BMJ Book of the Year Award for 2016 ' The Oxford Handbook of Expedition and Wilderness Medicine.
